Time Square multi-storey stops being free on Sundays from 9 November, and charges rise about 6% at 11 council car parks. Old and new prices for each one.
Parking at Warrington’s Time Square multi-storey will no longer be free on Sundays from Monday 9 November. Charges also go up at ten other council car parks on the same day, including both train station car parks and the three in Lymm.
Warrington Borough Council made the order on 13 October. Its public notice, dated 15 October, sets out every old and new charge.
Most charges rise by 10p or 20p. The council’s statement of reasons says that is an inflation rise of 6%, the estimated rise in consumer prices between October 2024 and September 2026, rounded up to the nearest 10p.
Time Square: Sunday charges for the first time
Time Square multi-storey has been free all day on Sundays. The statement of reasons explains why that is ending:
“Time Square Multi-storey car park is currently free to park on Sundays and bank holidays, but still incurs staffing and other operational costs, without any receipt of income. Due to the current financial situation, the council cannot continue to offer free parking on Sundays and Bank Holidays whilst incurring significant costs on these days.”
From 9 November, Saturday and Sunday daytime parking (6am to 5:59pm) costs:
- £1.50 for up to four hours
- £4.20 for over four hours
That is a change from the July proposal, which set the cheaper band at three hours. Saturdays used to be £1.40 for up to three hours and £3.90 after that.
The night tariff (6pm to 5:59am) now runs Monday to Sunday, not Monday to Saturday. It rises from £1.40 to £1.50 for an hour, £2.00 to £2.10 for two hours, and £2.60 to £2.80 for longer.
On weekdays, Time Square goes up to:
| Stay, Monday to Friday, 6am to 5:59pm | Now | From 9 Nov |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1 hour | £1.40 | £1.50 |
| 1 to 2 hours | £2.00 | £2.10 |
| 2 to 4 hours | £2.60 | £2.80 |
| Over 4 hours (all day) | £7.00 | £7.50 |
The order keeps the first three hours free for Blue Badge holders at the pay-and-display car parks.

Permits go up too
Annual contract permits rise by about 6%, the council’s figures show:
- Town Hall car park: £840 to £890 a year
- Town Hill car park: £710 to £750
- Time Square multi-storey: £640 to £680
- Time Square night-time permit: £135 to £143.10, and it now covers Sunday nights too
- Warrington West station, seven days: £170 to £180
- Warrington West station, five days: £140 to £148.40
More rises are planned
This rise is separate from the parking line in the council’s £51.2m savings plan. That plan proposes 10% rises in each of April 2027, April 2028 and April 2029 across council car parks, worth £420,000. We covered it in our report on the savings plan.
