Crest Medical has donated first aid supplies to Warrington Youth Zone on Dallam Lane, restocking its kits so the charity's own money goes on young people.

Crest Medical has given Warrington Youth Zone a donation of first aid supplies, which the Dallam Lane charity will use to restock its first aid kits.

The charity says the gift does two jobs. Staff have the supplies they need to look after the thousands of young people who use its services, and money that would have gone on buying them is freed up for its work with young people across the borough. It did not put a value on the donation.

What the charity says

Jamie Patterson, Head of Fundraising at Warrington Youth Zone, said:

“I am over the moon that Crest Medical were able to provide this extremely generous donation to our charity right here in the heart of Warrington. Keeping our young people safe is our top priority, and this donation has ensured we can do that, while also creating a great saving for the charity too.”

Keeping a safe and welcoming building is “a fundamental priority” for a charity working with young people, the Youth Zone said, and Crest Medical’s contribution helps it keep to those standards “while reducing the financial pressure associated with purchasing essential supplies”.

What Crest Medical says

Freya Watkins, Chief Operations Officer at Crest Medical, said:

“Supporting local charities is an important part of who we are at Crest Medical. Warrington Youth Zone is a vital asset to the community, and we are pleased to be able to provide practical support through this donation of first aid supplies. We look forward to seeing the positive impact the charity continues to make for young people and their families across Warrington.”

What the Youth Zone does

The Youth Zone is open seven days a week for young people aged 7 to 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs. It describes itself as “a safe, inclusive and inspiring place”, offering activities, support and opportunities to help young people build confidence, learn new skills and reach their potential. It is a registered charity, number 1101086, and part of the OnSide network of youth zones.

We listed its half term holiday club in our guide to the October break, and it is one of the 12 charities delivering the council’s Crisis Resilience Fund support.

What it means for you

Nothing changes for families using the Youth Zone: the donation keeps its existing first aid provision stocked. For local firms, the charity’s point is that donating equipment it would otherwise have to buy goes as far as a cash gift. “Donations of essential equipment and supplies demonstrate how businesses can make a meaningful contribution to the local community,” it said, “delivering practical support while helping charitable funding go further.”

A business that wants to support the Youth Zone can email fundraising@wyz.org.uk.

The same address takes sign-ups for the charity’s Seed Fund Challenge, which it is running this October. The Youth Zone describes it as an entrepreneurial fundraising event: it gives each team £50 to grow during October and November.
